I experienced terrible service at the hands of Pipex, so set up http://www.pipexproblems.co.uk in response.
There are a couple of Pipex employees that keep an eye on the forum posts and help out where they can – hopefully other users experiencing problems could get some help here?

Hi, just came across your web entry as I had typed 'bloody useless' referring to my Explorer application which keeps crashing. I am a customer of Pipex, no sorry, no Homecall, oops no Tiscali. Both my brother and I became their customers some years ago. I found out last January they were offering new customers a much cheaper package than us. i.e. £25.98 per month instead of the £40 odd that we paid and a faster speed than 1 mb. On querying this, young lady said oh yes we can do this for you. After a lot of telephone calls, e mails and more calls but still no update, their excuse was, BT doing something to lines and not telling us. Phone calls went on, letters were sent, their customer 'help' line even advised me to go elsewhere if not satisfied. Also in the process of this 'update' I was put back on £24.99 for broadband plus my phone calls !! Eventually I finally got the upgrade in February, I get between 1.9 and 2.6 mb on a good day. Unfortunately my brother STILL has not been upgraded, his speed. 512 mb.!! which he is paying full wack for i.e. £24.99. If you are thinking of going with Pipex, sorry TISCALI who now own them, my advice to you is DON'T !!

After a final complaint to the ISPA I got an offer of either 3 free months from Pipex or freedom from the service. I of course chose freedom, in all fairness to Pipex they did right off any costs I owed. So for once they all lived happily ever after.

Hello again Gary,

I've just sent Pipex Customer Care another email as I have managed to get nowhere with either Customer or Technical Support. Basically I have told them that due to all the outstanding issues I have with them I have cancelled my Direct Debit to them, hopefully this will spur them on but I fear not. Normally I would not condone such a thing but as their own Terms and Conditions state you can pay by cheque this is what I have advised them I shall do as I have no faith at all in their management, staff or invoicing procedures. Of course if they send me an incorrect invoice I shall be refusing to pay it until it is correct, or even better they can cancel my account with them and I shall hopefully migrate to a decent service. Stay tuned!

I sympathise with you 100%. I've just signed up with Pipex and within the month I've been on the service I've suffered major packet loss, speeds low for a 1Mb service let alone 8Mb, no written confirmation that my anytime phone package has been enabled as promised, emails unanswered, promises of telephone call backs broken and three incorrect invoices all in my first month. To say I'm a little p*ssed off would be an understatement. I will ring them again on 02/10/2006 and try to get this shoddy service cancelled due to breach of contract. I'll keep you posted.
